Job Description:

Lornamead, an oral care manufacturer in Tonawanda, NY is growing and is looking for talented individuals to join their team.

Health and Safety Coordinator
Responsibilities
• Performs compliance reviews, risk assessments and other EHS assessments supporting management goals, objectives and to maintain an up to date status of compliance.
• Be the onsite contact for safety issues, audits and supports management during OSHA visits.
• Perform regular assessments of company programs and propose changes to improve implementation and to sustain compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Update SOP’s where needed.
• Prepare applicable EHS surveys, testing or reports as requested by management.
• Implement continual improvement projects to identify and eliminate safety hazards within the plant.
• Perform Accident or Incident investigations and execute corrective actions throughout the site to eliminate further occurrences.
• Manage the site training of EHS related programs and SOP’s. Assist where needed in the development and presentation of relevant departmental training.
• Observe EHS regulations, wears all required safety equipment, encourages safe working practices, corrects obvious hazards immediately or reports them to the proper personnel.
• Perform daily inspections in all areas of the plant to establish EHS presence and provide support where needed.
• Perform all EHS inspections and audits as needed. Ensure corrective actions in place for any audit findings.
• Perform evaluations of PPE and ensure proper use and maintenance of PPE in accordance with established programs.
• Act as a Spill Coordinator in the event of a chemical spill or reaction.
• Work with manufacturing on process waste mitigation and removal.
• Support and develop ergonomic and other job safety programs.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational, Health and Safety or Technical/Engineering degree and relevant experience required
• 5-10 years' experience in a Environmental Health and Safety role in a manufacturing environment required
• Excellent verbal and written skills, able to write SOP's, reports and EHS analysis
• Must be willing to work different shifts and weekends.
