Weld/Fabrication Supervisor

Excelco/Newbrook, Inc. is a growing manufacturing company that builds custom mechanical equipment for critical use applications. We are seeking a highly motivated Weld/Fabrication Supervisor who can contribute to our company’s growth and success. The successful candidate will be self motivated, career minded and have the ability to communicate at all levels in the organization.

Job Purpose:
The Weld/Fabrication Supervisor will be responsible for managing the weld and fabrication department and assuring that all work is performed in accordance with the company quality system, safety policies and customer requirements.
This position will focus on the quality and efficiency of welding, fabrication and related operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Oversee and coordinate daily welding operations in support of company goals
• Plan ahead for tools, fixtures, equipment and materials required to support upcoming operations.
• Train welders on techniques and setups. Collaborate with more experienced welders on the best approach for a job.
• Review instructions with the assigned personnel to ensure they understand and are familiar with all requirements.
• Understand how to properly apply welding codes and requirements.
• Oversee, coordinate and document qualifications of procedures and personnel
• Assure the completion and accuracy of all documentation for welding and related operations.
• Ensure welding, fabrication and related operations meet the high standards of ASME and military codes.
• Review practices and develop improvements to reduce manufacturing lead times and costs.
• Be able to understand and input into the creation of existing and new welding procedures.
• Schedule Weld/Fab production within the team to ensure on time delivery.
• Provide guidance on material preparation
• Check welding equipment set-up and welding techniques to ensure quality of product.
• Interpretation of welding codes and specifications
• Ensure that all weld procedures (WPS), welder’s qualification records (WPQ) and process qualification records (PQR) are maintained and updated
• Communicate with engineers and managers to follow project priorities
• Enforce Company Policy and Procedures
• Assist in hiring process and annual employee appraisals

Skills and Requirements:
• Proven ability to manage and motivate people
• Ability to plan and effectively utilize resources
• Ability to effectively communicate expectations and garner the desired result
• Ability to identify issues, work within a team environment to find solutions, and implement the change
• Ability to use Microsoft Office, Outlook and SyteLine as needed
• Sense and sensibility on how to most appropriately relay information for the best outcome.

Educational Requirements:
• 2 year technical degree in the field of welding
• Minimum, 5 years of experience in managing technical personnel and complex activities. These experiences should be gained in areas of manufacturing or technical operations and should include a minimum of two years in fabrication.
• Good working knowledge of ASME codes
• AWS Certified

Successful completion of drug screening and physical are a prerequisite to employment. Position will require the ability to obtain U.S. Security Clearance.
