Job Description:

Working Knowledge is growing and looking for an experienced, motivated Senior Structured Cabling Technician to join our team in Amherst, New York. This position leads and manages all onsite construction activity and assists the with planning, directing, and managing commercial construction projects.

The Senior Structured Cabling Technician is a hands-0n, take-charge leader with a strong safety focus, a sense of urgency, and the desire to achieve quality in the final product.
The Senior Structured Cabling Technician will actively engage in all aspects of field work and supervision and act as the portal between field technicians and office management.

Knowledge of structured cabling - both copper and fiber optic is a must.

Primary Responsibilities:
-Ensure safety is an everyday topic and supersedes all other considerations
-Demonstrate a dedication to successful delivery of projects for our clients and partners through planning, team building, anticipation of challenges, ensuring resources are provided and flexibility to address specific project team needs.
-Direct the activities of workers engaged in the construction of the project
-Read and interpret plans and specifications, and ensure they are met during construction
-Monitor and inspect work progress and site
-Supervise, direct and coordinate activities of labor, subcontractors, and deliveries
-Confer with managers and technical associates in order to coordinate activities
-Meet with subcontractors to ensure satisfactory work
-Record information such as personnel, production, and operations data
-Complete all reports and records in an accurate and timely manner
-Prepare schedules and supervise completion of final punch list
-Analyze worker and production problems
-Understand and adhere to safety and quality control requirements
-Improve production methods
-Prepare and execute safety and quality control plans
-Conduct and participate in safety meetings
-Maintain an organized jobsite, including the construction office

Actively engage in field work needed including:
-Cable rough-in
-Head end and field terminations
-Fiber optic fusion splicing
-Patch panel work
-Cable management
-Cable Testing & Certification

Qualifications:
-5+ years of experience in commercial construction - with a concentration in low voltage or electrical fields
-Proven and documented knowledge of patch panel terminations, data center / IDF / CER, etc build-outs, fiber optic fusion spicing, etc.
-Associates Degree in construction science or management, or an equivalent combination of training/work experiences.
-Strong knowledge of construction methods and safety practices
-Proficient with computers and current industry technology
-Ability to prioritize and delegate tasks effectively
-Ability to communicate effectively
-Ability to work as the project dictates

Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $45,000.00 to $65,000.00 /year

Experience:
-Copper cable, twisted pair installation and termination: 5 years (Required)
-Fiber optic cable installation and termination: 2 years
-Project Management / Supervision / Lead Technician: 5 years (Required)
-Work authorization
-United States (Required)
-Ability to pass background screening
-Schedule
-Monday to Friday (or as otherwise dictated by project circumstance)
-8 hour shift (7am - 3:30pm)
