Maintenance Team:
The Erie County Agricultural Society’s (ECAS) maintenance team is growing! We are seeking a highly motivated full-time Carpenter Assistant to join our team. In this role, you’ll thrive in a fast-paced environment, working on a variety of carpentry projects, including framing, finishing, and repairs. You will also play a key role in event setup and general facility maintenance. This position requires a strong work ethic, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Demonstrate a strong desire to learn and grow within the role.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and project plans accurately.
• Perform carpentry tasks, including framing, finishing, repairs, and installations.
• Ensure precision in measuring, cutting, and assembling wood and other materials.
• Operate and maintain hand and power tools safely and effectively.
• Complete assigned tasks efficiently and in their entirety within given timeframes.
• Adapt to changing priorities and assist in other maintenance tasks, including electrical, plumbing, snow removal, and barn cleanout.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment, following all safety protocols.
• Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to coordinate projects.
• Follow all workplace safety guidelines and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.

Qualifications:
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and attention to detail.
• Ability to work well with others and contribute to a team environment.
• Strong knowledge of carpentry tools, equipment, and carpentry/construction techniques.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess situations and develop viable solutions.
• Must have the ability to operate various tools such as: table saw, miter saw, band saw, etc.
• Commitment to guest and workplace safety at all times.
• Physical capability to perform job-related tasks, including:
• Lifting, carrying, and pushing up to 75 lbs
• Climbing ladders, scaffolding and lifts
• Standing, bending, and kneeling for extended periods
• Working in various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and wet environments
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills to coordinate with other departments.
• Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays, based on project or event schedules.

Hours: Full time from 7:30 am-4:00 pm; Must be able and willing to work evenings and weekends for special events, including all twelve days of the Erie County Fair each August
Reports to: Lead Carpenter
Classification: Non-Exempt (Hourly)

Wage Range: $19-$21 per hour
