Join our healthcare team as a Prior Authorization Specialist, where your expertise will be vital in streamlining the approval process for medical services. In this role, you will serve as the crucial link between healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients, ensuring timely and accurate authorization for procedures and treatments. Your attention to detail will help improve patient care experiences.
Responsibilities
• Review and process prior authorization requests for medical procedures and medications, ensuring all necessary documentation is complete and accurate.
• Communicate effectively with healthcare providers to gather additional information or clarification needed for authorization submissions.
• Verify insurance coverage, benefits, and eligibility using managed care systems and insurance portals.
• Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality during all interactions.
• Track authorization statuses, follow up on pending requests, and escalate issues as necessary to ensure timely approvals.
• Maintain detailed records of all authorization activities, including correspondence, approvals, denials, and appeals.
Requirements
• Proven experience in medical office settings with a strong understanding of insurance verification processes.
• Familiarity with medical terminology and EMR's, Medent preferred.
• Knowledge of HIPAA compliance standards to safeguard patient information at all times.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple requests simultaneously while maintaining accuracy.
• Excellent communication skills to communicate effectively with healthcare providers, insurance representatives, and patients.
